Heritage Council
The Kentucky Heritage Council seeks to build a greater awareness of Kentucky's
past and to encourage the long-term preservation of Kentucky's significant
cultural resources. It maintains continually updated inventories of historic
structures and archaeological sites and nominates properties to the National
Register of Historic Places.

Historical Society
Includes the museums at the Kentucky History Center, the Old State Capitol
and the Kentucky Military History Museum. The KHS conducts educational programs
and hands-on workshops aimed at all age groups, operates a genealogical
research library, and sponsors programs/services that are designed to help
local communities identify, preserve, and present their own history (Kentucky
Oral History Commission, Kentucky Folklife Program and the Community Services
Office).
