Job Duties:

This Public Records Branch Manager position manages the Archival Services Branch of the Public Records Division.

Duties of this position include:

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, administer the programs and services of the Archival Services Branch;

  • Ensure access to public records;

  • Monitor space requirements for the state archives;

  • Supervise professional and para professional staff, including performing evaluations; training;

  • Write professional analyses & reports;

  • Give professional archival assistance to public agencies;

  • Maintain close liaison with researchers who use archival holdings and services; ensure the branch is responsive to their needs;

  • Monitor & evaluate existing & proposed statutes, administrative regulations and agency procedures affecting public records and make recommendations.

Liaison with Friends of Kentucky Public Archives, Inc. and other groups to support the records responsibilities of the division.                                                                     

                                        

Qualifications/Experience:

-Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree with four years of professional experience in records management, micrographics, document preservation and/or archival experience in one or more of the following areas:  appraisal, accessioning, description and/or the arrangement of documents.

-Graduate study in archival studies, records management, history, library science, public administration, business administration or related field will substitute for the experience on a year‑for‑year basis not to exceed two years.

-Additional professional experience in one or more of the above areas will substitute for the education on a year‑for‑year basis.
