Course Description

One of the basic services of the library is the delivery of information during what is commonly referred to as the reference interview. This live online class will examine the role of the reference interview, the components that make up the reference interview, and offer strategies for improving results.

You will learn about:

Librarian patron relationships
Importance of determining wants vs. needs
Impediments to success
Impossible questions

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who fields reference questions at any public service desk.

Technical Requirements for Live Online Classes:

Registration to this free of charge class is limited to two people from each library system. While this is an online class, it is live and there are only 20 "seats" available. If you were paying for this session it would cost $170. Registration will be accepted on a first come first served basis. The registration deadline is two weeks prior to the session.
