Course Description

Making sense of copyright laws in today's environment can be a daunting task. Not only must you understand the complexities and complications of copyright law principles, how and when they apply, and how and when your activity may be an exception to the law or considered a fair use; now these same convoluted laws must be applied to ever-evolving media like the Internet.

So, where do you begin? This seminar is designed to guide you through the "copyright maze" and provide some clarity in managing copyright issues today and into the future. It is a practical course that will lead you and your organization out of the maze! If you are struggling with managing copyright issues in your enterprise, and finding ways to ensure you are compliant with the copyright laws of your country, this is the course for you.

This is an instructor-led online course. You will receive 16 e-lessons over 8 weeks. A quiz testing your knowledge for that particular e-lesson is included at the end of each lesson. Each of the following lessons will take at least one hour to complete:

Intended Audience:

Anyone interested in learning more about copyright and how to manage it in your library.

Technical Requirements for Live Online Classes:

Registration to this free of charge class is limited to two people from each library system. While this is an online class, it is live and there are only 25 "seats" available. If you were paying for this session it would cost $220 per person. Registration will be accepted on a first come first served basis. The registration deadline is two weeks prior to the session.
