This service is designed to help Kentucky public librarians request or reserve the visual materials they need for programming or for their customers.

Ask a Librarian - Research Assistance for Reference Librarians

This service is designed to assist public librarians with questions related to library science, research of Kentucky topics, reference look-up, and general research assistance.

Automation

Offers suggestions as well as state guidelines for starting a library's automation process.

Bookmobiles and Outreach Services

Receive assistance with bookmobile acquisition and maintenance.

Certification

Instruction on how to obtain Kentucky Public Librarian Certification. Includes listings of program requirements, regulations, an online manual, application forms, and frequently asked questions.

Children's and Young Adult Services

Resources for public librarians serving infants, toddlers, children and young adults, with listings of suggested trainers, performers and presenters for various topics related to children's and young adult services, and purchases for Children's and Young Adult book collections.

Collections/Kits

Information regarding the large-print book collections distributed to public libraries by the State Library and/or Children's Services.

Continuing Education Events

A calendar of continuing education events recommended by KDLA for library staff.

E-rate

Provides information on obtaining telecommunications and Internet access discounts to assist schools and libraries.

Facilities and Construction

Information on current library construction projects in the Commonwealth, as well as information on how to obtain construction grants.

Grants

Information on the types of grants administered by KDLA, calendars, links, and more.

Interlibrary Loan Information

The ILL policy for borrowing items from the State Library, including item availability, check out periods and mailing procedures.

KTBL - Kentucky Talking Book Library

Instructions on how to access the audiobooks, Braille books, and descriptive videos in KDLA's Kentucky Talking Book collections.

Kentucky Resource Sharing Program

KDLA supports all types of libraries in the Commonwealth in their missions of providing information to their customers: the citizens. This is accomplished by supporting basic resource sharing programs and partnering and working closely with the Kentucky Virtual Library.

Performer/Presenter Recommendations

Recommendations for guest performers for library programming, such as Summer Reading, Storytime, and holidays.

Public Library Codes

Codes needed to complete the first form (470) that must be filed by a school or library in the E-rate application process as specified by the FCC in the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Public Library Standards

A manual describing public library standards developed by the Kentucky Library Association (KLA) and the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives on such topics as voluntary participation, varied service levels and ease of use.

Public Library Statistics

A summary of library statistics for the most recent year, and comparisons with the three prior years in various per capita library measures, including county by county library statistics in 88 categories, a select group of statistics arranged in order of county population and a cross-index of county and item numbers for specific county statistics. Includes the Kentucky Public Library Salary and Benefits Survey comparing libraries based on population served and revenues received.

KDLA-PR is a monitored discussion list devoted to those who work with public relations and marketing for their library.
