Grants

The ultimate goal of the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives grant program is to provide adequate and equitable library and information services for all Kentuckians. To that end, KDLA offers grants to libraries and local governments across the state to help them meet the needs of their customers.

Federal grants

Federal grants are made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. Libraries are invited to apply for the following competitive grants.

2009 Public Library Programming Grants

Provides funding to public libraries to enhance, expand or provide programming that will meet the specific needs of their community.

DEADLINE: June 30, 2008

2009 Library Automation grants

Provides funding for 50% matching grants to assist libraries in automating their systems.  These grants are divided into two categories:  Academic and Public.

2009 Library Innovation Grants

Provides funding to public libraries for innovative and creative technological solutions to service problems in libraries.

2009 Library Assistive Technology Grants

Provides funding to public libraries for technologies that assist patrons with special needs.

2007 - 2008 Graduate Library School Tuition Reimbursement Grants

Provides tuition reimbursement to public libraries for public library staff that successfully complete classes from ALA accredited graduate programs. Deadline for applications:  30 days after the start of each semester.

State Grants

  • Local Records Grants – provides funds to local government agencies to improve their record-keeping practices and to preserve the information as a strategic resource. Local Records Grants are competitive.
