How to Search the Audiovisual Collection
Combination Search
This search provides options for combining multiple keywords and phrases (1) from different parts of the catalog record. (2)

To Limit Search to Videocassettes and DVDs
- Click "set limits" in lower right corner. (3)
- Select "Audiovisual". (4)
- Click "Set Limits" (5) to return to search.
- Search as usual (i.e. title, subject, keyword...)
Other Limits
- Spanish language.
To Search for Videos by Viewing Group
Include one of the following phrases in a "Keyword Anywhere" search:
- preschool-grade 3
- grades 4-6
- grades 7-9
- grades 10-12
- adult
Search Video or Video Segments by Running Time
- Search for phrase in "Keyword Anywhere".
- Example: 10 min
- Note: Time searched must be exact. Searching a range of time (example: 10 min. or less) is not possible.
Example: To find a video on harassment suitable for adult viewers with a running time of 20 minutes, perform the following search:
QUICK LIMIT SEARCH
This allows a single search statement (1) to be easily limited to one format or collection (2).
To Limit Search to Videocassettes and DVDs>
- Select a Quick Limit of "Video Recordings".
Find Results In:
- Keyword or "Phrase" Anywhere or Keyword (use and, or, not, "phrase")
- Place phrase in quotation marks.
- Title, Author, Subject (keyword, phrase)
- Searches multiple words as a phrase.
- Finds words, phrases anywhere in chosen search field.
- Title, Author, Subject (exact)
- Searches from left to right.
- Search term or phrase must be at the beginning of the title, author, subject.
Examples:
- Searching "professional image" in Keyword or "Phrase" Anywhere finds:
professional image in titles, subjects, notes...
- Searching hearing impaired in Subject (keyword or phrase) finds:
Video recordings for the hearing impaired.
- Searching Bissell Ben in Author/Creator (exact) finds:
Material by Ben Bissell.
